Lisa and JuanJo's Wedding
Yes, it's finally happened! My little sister was married on Saturday the 17th of December in a beautiful "Love Marriage" (as JuanJo calls it) at Mum & Dad's place in Fig Tree Pocket. She has married a fantastic fellow, Juan Jose whom she met in Menorca (an Island in Spain). He is actually from Barcelona and currently lives on his boat there!
They met through David, who works for Mascaro, one of Lisa's first shoe suppliers in Spain. David was taking Lisa back to the airport and thought he'd do a bit of match-making by taking Lisa to JuanJo's restaurant. Well, within a few hours JuanJo had fallen head over heels for her before she was whisked away to return to Australia.
So, after much planning they had the legal wedding at the Registry Office in Brisbane on Friday the 16th. This then set the scene for the "Love Marriage" on Saturday night.
It was a fantastic night, once Lisa actually arrived only 50minutes late! I think JuanJo was nervous but everyone else was just enjoying themselves with Chinese goodies and plenty of drinks. The Ceremony was held amongst the Liquid Amber trees and was beautiful, intimate and warm yet fun.
Dinner was about 8 courses interspersed with the odd toast and plenty of animated discussion amongst the tables. We finally finished dinner at midnight and moved on to the dance floor to the relief of the DJ who had been playing music to himself for about 4 hours!
We danced on until about 3am when it was time to drop Lisa and JuanJo to their hotel and head home for a few hours sleep before Max was up and ready for action.
Several of JuanJo's friends from Menorca, David, Karsten & Suzanna, were staying at Lisa's house so we spent a lot of time with them over the last couple of days. It was wonderful to get to meet a few people in JuanJo's life and spend time with him also.
They plan to have a party in Menorca late next year so I'm looking forward to meeting his family, catching up with his friends and seeing them in their Spanish environment :-)
Now I'm trying to slow down again after all that dancing...the legs aren't what they used to be...
