Max's Moon Yit and Father's Day
A Moon Yit is a traditional Chinese celebration held for a baby when it reaches 1 month. It dates back to times when infant mortality was high so they did not celebrate a baby's birth until after a month. The mother was also house bound until after this time as well. I can assure you that neither max nor Deanna stayed at home for the entire month!
The day was also Father's Day and I was blessed with his first smile (well, Dee got the first one) which was fantastic. He got me a cool, modular cable kit for connecting up computers/devices for my mobile office and Dee got me a CD from the herd.
The party is traditionally put on by the Father's parent's so on Sunday, 5th of September (Father's Day) we headed of the Nanny & Yeh-Yeh's house for a party.
We had some traditional red eggs (red for good luck and eggs to symbolise life, made by Mum [Nanny]), chicken wine soup (made by Tai-Yan) and noodles (for long life).
It was glorious day and the kids enjoyed running around the lawn. I think the funniest thing was seeing little William pushing D'Arcy's play mower around as far as you could see.

Happy 75th Birthday Nan
Yes, today was my Nan's 75th Birthday! Dee, Max and I headed over there for a Red Rooster lunch with her and Keith (Pop).
We had a lovely time chatting over lunch. Unfortunately, Max was a little over-tired so Nan didn't get much of a hold and Dee spent most of the time walking him around until he settled down in the baby carrier.
My Nan is a wonderful role model and the source of my adventurous spirit. She loves to travel, fish and took me Duck shooting in my earlier days!

Ben's 24th Birtday
Saturday, August 28th was Ben's 24th Birthday - another step closer to the big 25th! We had a great BBQ at Mum & Dad Long's with all the Long family. It was a great, relaxing day of beautiful Brisbane winter weather.
I worked out that on the day, Ben was 438 times older than Max. What a funny (albeit useless) statistic. It's hard to imagine that babies start of *that* much younger than adults.
Ben was funny because he had to compete with max for the limelight and regularly reminded everyone that it was *his* Birthday :-)
Here are some photos of the day to enjoy.

River Fire
The annual Brisbane River Festival has been and gone for another year. With Max around we didn't get into much of it except to enjoy some great fireworks from our deck. It was a practice run for New Year's Eve and we had a great panoramic view of the fireworks over the City.
It was Ben's Birthday that day to so they were in his honour!
Max loved the F111 "dump & burn". Despite the deafening roar as it flew overhead he managed to fall asleep. He's a funny fellow!
