Australia Day 2005
Here I am in the dying minutes of another Australia Day!
It was a fairly laid back day. We spent the morning unpacking more boxes and rearranging the garage/rumpus so that Dee could fit in more shoes for the Zaparties she's coordinating for Lisa's shoe company, Zapatito. So the rear of our garage is now a shoe emporium/warehouse.
An F111 did a fly-by of our house just after midday. It was amazing! It was on it's side so I could see the top of the plane and it must of only been about 300m above the ground.
Paradise sponsored the Brisbane Australia Day parade so this year it was the Paradise Foods Australia Day Parade :-) This promised to be a very cool event with 500 Paradise employees signed up to march in the parade in special t-shirts followed by a BBQ before the evening fire works. Wow!
Unfortunately, it was a rainy day and we watched wave after wave of showers pass through the city and then our place. After much deliberation we decided that it was going to be too difficult taking Max in the rain so we aborted the mission. Shortly after this, the parade was actually cancelled due to a severe storm that was supposed to be coming. Bad news for the 300 odd Paradise employees getting onto buses at the factory!
The call was made to go on with the BBQ...try telling 300 people their BBQ's cancelled!
We then decided that we'd brave the weather and join everyone for a little while. We drove into South bank, scored a street park and then walked 10mins to the BBQ! We had a great time and Max was whisked away by Wendy (Dad's PA and mother to us all!) to be shown to all and sundry! He loved it and came back with lipstick on his cheek!
We then drove home in time to watch the fireworks! I love Brisbane :-)
I know you've been wondering what the t-shirts looked like...so here's a picture!
